Summer Gone Blues
I blinked and summer is basically over. Suddenly stores are filled with pencils and notebooks as people shop for back to school. I’m shaking my head and feeling a little sad, what happened to summer. It was just around the corner and now it’s almost gone. I’m like WHAT? I haven’t gotten to do all my go-to activities yet this summer. I only went to the pool a few times, rode my bike once, I still haven’t gone on my nature trail walks, didn’t get to go to any cookouts yet, didn’t get to the farmers market to get fresh corn, and haven’t worn my summer dresses. I always get my nails painted pink at the start of summer and I still haven’t (I always get my nails painted in the summer).
These are just a few simple, small things that put a smile on my face for summertime. Everyone needs to make time to do something that makes them smile. Whatever it may be for you.
We are all pulled in so many directions. Between work, summer college classes, helping others – our free time is limited, I get it. This is life. I cannot be the only one feeling this way – the summer gone blues. However, in these moments, let’s remind ourselves there are only so many hours during the day. Make it a priority to do some of those things that make you happy in summer. Mark time on your calendar to do something that makes your summer a summer! I put on my calendar a Sunday morning to get a coffee and sit by the pool. It did wonders just sitting and listening to the water fountain. I also scheduled on the calendar a bike ride and it was awesome!
When you get into the summer-gone blues mindset, take time for yourself and do something you like.
