Yesterday was Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day and October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Cancer isn’t picky. Breast cancer (or any cancer) can happen to you or anyone at any moment.
Each person has a different experience and journey with cancer. Life can be put on hold, appointments, treatments, surgeries, drainage tubes, hair loss, compression sleeves, exhaustion, medications, side effects, fear, shock, disbelief, anxiety, grief, and the list continues and is different for each individual, and their caregiver.
BUT cancer can also bring faith, strength, love, kindness, bravery, support, courage, hope, and so much more.
What can we do?
- Never take your health for granted. Get imaging and all the checkups. If you feel in your gut like there is something wrong, listen to your body and push for imaging because it can save your life – it did for my mom twice.
- Get involved with a breast cancer organization to support others.
- Be kind to everyone as you never know who is going through something behind the scenes. For all of those currently in the fight against cancer, not only breast cancer but any cancer, love and prayers are with you. You got this. Stay persistent, stay strong, and be your own advocate.
And always remember…
