Quick Tip: Healthy Snack – New Year
Quick Tip: Healthy Snack – New Year…
Happy New Year! Just coming out of the holidays, and starting this new year, many of us may still be craving the yummy sweets and candies from this recent holiday season. I want to share this Quick Tip on how to make Simply Healthy Cookies. (I don’t know what the name is for this recipe and/or cookie, but this is what I am calling them). I found this recipe online and it has helped me when I am really wanting chocolate, so here is an alternative to satisfy that.
This recipe ONLY has 3 ingredients, and they are super easy to make. Whenever you want something sweet, they are perfect! Another great benefit is they are dairy free and flour free (which makes us guilt free).
This recipe does only make a snack-bite size portion. If you would like to make more, simply double or triple the recipe to however many you would like to make.
Simply Healthy Cookies
Serving Size: Approx. 5 bite size cookies
Ingredients:
1 ripe banana
¼ cup of dark chocolate chips
¼ cup Old Fashioned Oats OR 1 packet of plain Instant Oats
*Note* – To change it up, I’ve added dark chocolate chips, but they are an optional ingredient. You can substitute them for walnuts, raisins, or whatever you like.
Step 1 – Take the banana and put it into a medium bowl. Mash banana with a fork until it is a paste-like consistency.
Step 2 – Set your oven to preheat at 350°F and spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray. THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Step 3 – Going back to your mixture, take your oats, (If using old fashioned oats, pulse in a food processor until they are the consistency of instant oats), and sprinkle in your oats, a little bit at a time, and fold them into the banana paste, until all of the oats are in and well mixed.
Step 4 – Start rolling your mixture into a ball, and place on your cookie sheet, about the size of a golf ball.
Step 5 – Place dark chocolate chips on top of your cookies, about 1 or 2 chips per cookie.
Step 6 – Place cookies in the oven for approximately 15 minutes.
Step 7 – Remove from oven. Let them cool for a few minutes before taking them off cookie sheet.
Step 8 – Serve and Enjoy!
This is a great and easy way to satisfy your sweet tooth, especially if you are trying to wean yourself off the sugary holiday sweets! Enjoy! And always remember to Be Yourself Be Strong And Be Beautiful ®.
