What did you just say? I’m glad the holidays are over.
Oh my.
“What? Why?” I asked. His response was…
“I don’t know. I have good childhood memories of Christmas, but the magic and joy are gone.”
For me, that was a huge statement. I could not process how he could feel that way, or even want the holidays to be over with for the year. If it were up to me, Christmas would be celebrated all year long.
I understand the holidays can be a difficult time, stir up unhappy emotions, or be exhausting for some. If you feel this way, you are not alone. Acknowledge your emotions, and find how you can turn the holidays into a happy time for yourself. We do need to reflect on our past memories but don’t dwell on the negativity. Look at the present holiday season with open eyes, and you might find something new and exciting that you never noticed before.
How can you bring joy and happiness back into your holidays? Do something new, see a new holiday movie, try a new game, volunteer, thank those working over the holiday, or listen to a message about the true meaning of the holiday.
Go into the holidays with a new perspective for yourself and others. Turn those negative feelings into positive ones. Bring the joy back into the holiday, however it may look for you.
And Always Remember to Be Yourself Be Strong And Be Beautiful®
