Let’s Celebrate Life
This has been a bittersweet week.
Not only was my 21st birthday Thursday, but today is my graduation from WSU university, earning my bachelors degree with Magna Cum Laude (high honors), which I completed in 2 1/2 years with NO high school credit Many said it was impossible to accomplish such an undertaking in a short period of time, but anything is possible with dedication, commitment, and perseverance.
My Papaw (my moms dad) passed away from COVID-19 a few days ago. You may recall me mentioning Papaw’s battle with COVID-19 in my Spread Gratitude, Not COVID blog. Papaw had put up a tough battle against COVID, but COVID had took over. Papaw was always a strong man. The doctors in ICU could not believe how tough he was, but I could. He was my Papaw.
Then, I just found out today another family whom I have known my whole life has lost their family member, Gene, to COVID-19 yesterday.
Between my Papaw, Gene, and other families I know who have lost members of their families to COVID, my heart breaks to hear all of this news, especially how COVID-19 has taken so much away from all of us.
Please let this be a reminder to you to stay safe. Keep yourself and your family protected during this time, but also let us celebrate every day. Celebrate when we wake up, when we have the opportunity to speak with a loved one on the phone, when we see them in person, or when we get a text message from them. Our journey through life on Earth is not forever, so we must focus on what we have in the moment, and appreciate every second of our lives.
On this week of 2 milestones in my life, my birthday and university graduation, I am thankful for those who are still here, who encourage, support, and show me much love, and those who are not with us anymore, but are always held in my heart. I know you are watching over me, celebrating with me and proud of me, and that you love me.
Stay safe and always remember to Be Yourself Be Strong And Be Beautiful®,
